Principles & Values
My Approach to Coaching
I do my utmost to listen and truly understand where the person I am coaching is in their life. Often, there is a gap between where someone thinks they are and where they actually are, and it’s my job to identify that. I work to understand their barriers to progress, learn from their past successes, and clarify what success looks like to them.
Personal Qualities I Bring
Professionalism is at the heart of what I do. I take confidentiality seriously, and I’m always punctual and organised. I’m adaptable to changing circumstances and flexible when challenges arise. At the same time, I believe in bringing a sense of playfulness to my work and finding moments of levity when things feel tough.
How I Guide People
I guide people gradually, helping them find the beginning of their path. Once you’re on the path, it gets easier—but finding the entrance is often the hardest part. I provide plenty of support at the start, with the aim of gradually reducing reliance on me. This approach empowers my clients, building their confidence and autonomy in areas like exercise, nutrition, and overall wellbeing.
Core Values
Integrity underpins all my work, ensuring honesty and trust in every interaction. I also value playfulness and believe that enjoying the process is key to sustainable change. Finally, I champion working smart—finding effective and creative solutions that fit into your life rather than making life revolve around the plan.
My Philosophy
I believe in a personalized approach to health, guided by proven behavior-change techniques. My coaching focuses on building a sustainable framework of habits, making regular exercise and balanced nutrition a natural part of your daily life. Although I draw on the latest science and research to ensure nothing is missed, I also respect the importance of feel and intuition when it comes to making decisions.
Now based in Kendal, I provide in-person training across the South Lakes, working with clients at home or outdoors to create tailored programs that fit their lifestyle. I also offer online coaching as a key part of my 60/3 program, making expert guidance accessible to anyone, anywhere. This includes personalized training plans for aspiring amateur endurance athletes, regardless of time zone.

I enjoy a wide range of sports, many of which have evolved into hobbies. I’ve medaled in rowing at a national level (gold in indoor rowing and bronze in outdoor sweep rowing) and have raced bikes on both the track and road. As a junior, I competed nationally in athletics, taking part in throws and sprints. I’ve also raced distances ranging from 60 meters indoors to 52 miles outdoors, and swum competitively—from 25 meters in the pool to 4 miles outdoors. Additionally, you can find me ski-touring in Scotland, the Lakes, or the Alps, as well as bouldering. To stay in shape, I lift weights weekly. Most importantly, over 30 years of competitive experience now fuel my passion for helping others achieve their best, regardless of their level.
I founded Fearless Training in 2016 to transform lives through sustainable health and fitness. With over two decades of experience in sport, coaching, and the private health sector—specializing in weight management—I’ve dedicated my career to helping people unlock their potential and build healthier lives.
My coaching began 20 years ago at Manchester University when I realised that helping young athletes improve their movement and win races was a lot of fun! I then moved into the Private Sector as a Health Coach working in Specialist Weight Management alongside training twice a day with the National Development Program for Rowing. Illness put a holt to my rowing aspirations and decided to put my experience to use by helping others. Since University, I split my time between a small number of 1-2-1 personal training clients and 5-10 amateur endurance athletes. All together, I’ve coached over 1000 people on how to improve their movement and change their thinking.
In 2024, our family relocated to Kendal, Cumbria to fulfil a dream of living near the mountains. Whether skiing, cycling, or running through our National Park, being active together is one of my greatest joys. In my spare time, I design and build small projects for our home, photograph the changing seasons and prepare food for my family and friends.
